Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals, Indian Premier League 2020 Match 30: In Pics

In the end it was the brilliant bowling performance from the Capitals bowlers. All of them were right on the money in the game and turned the screws on the Rajasthan batsmen and always kept the pressure on them. 

Nortje bowled out the well-set Uthappa for 32 to land the final nail in the coffin. Deshpande was also upto the task in the pulsating final over - giving away just 8 runs.

Delhi Capitals reached the top of the points table with this victory.

In a tremendous display of death bowling, Delhi Capitals bowlers' gave away just 25 runs from the final 5 overs. Ashwin bowled a miserly spell of 4-0-17-0 to put the pressure on Rajasthan in the middle overs and in the end the pace bowlers were up to the task as they wrapped up the two points for their side. 

The pace of Nortje and Rabada was too musch too handle for the likes of Uthappa and Tewatia to rescue a victory for their side.

Just when Sanju Samson threatened to get going, Axar Patel got into the act and bowled him out. Samson tried to make room for himself and wanted to go over the off-side but the ball came in with the arm and rattled his stumps. Samson made 25 off 18 balls. 

Axar bowled a tight spell and then ran-out Riyan Parag. The youngster had gone out from the non-strikers end for a quick single but Axar took the ball and hit the bulls-eye to complete his good day in the office.

Delhi Capitals' debutant Tushar Deshpande picked-up his maiden IPL wicket when he got the removed the dangerous Ben Stokes. He was the one who broke Stokes and Samson's solid partnership to get his side back into the mix. 

He bowled an excellent 20th over for his side - giving away just 8 runs and picking-up his second wicket. 

He returned with figures of 4-0-37-2.

After the two early wickets, Stokes and Samson took it upon themselves to anchor the innings. Samson controlled himself well on one end but Stokes continued playing his shots. The duo stitched a rapid 46-run stand for the third wicket. 

The partnership was finally broken when Stokes was dismissed by debutant Tushar Deshpande. Stokes made 41 off 35 balls.

Jos Buttler was bowled by Anrich Nortje with a 155 kph missile. Buttler had already hit him for 16 runs in Nortje's first over and hit a four with a crazy reverse scoop on the previous bowl bowled at 156 kph. Nortje, on the last ball of that overdisturbs his stumps with a ball which was too fast even for Buttler.

He was soon followed back to the pavilion by Steve Smith, who departed just for 1.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer scored fighting fifties to set the tone for their side's competitive total of 161/7.

Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-19-3.

After Dhawan and Iyer's strong partnership, Rajasthan Royals' bowlers did very well to contain the dangerous Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey. Capitals' desperately missed the services of Rishabh Pant. 

Kartik Tyagi (4-0-30-1) and Jofra Archer (4-0-19-3) bowled fantastic spells with Jaydev Unadkat picking-up two wickets in his final over.

Dhawan built-up on the momentum he gained from his innings of 69 in the last game against Mumbai Indians.

He was the highlight of the DC innings with a knock of 57 (off 33 balls; 4x6, 6x2). Dhawan was in tremendous touch and took the Rajasthan bowlers to the cleaners. Iyer gave him good company with a gritty knock of 53.

After losing the opening two wickets in quick succesion, the seasoned duo of Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Shreyas Iyer steadied the ship. They engaged in a rapid 85-run stand for the third wicket to take the match to the opposition - countering a fiersome spell from Jofra Archer. 

Dhawan made 57 (off 33 balls) while Iyer played a gritty innings of 53 (off 43 balls).

Prithvi Shaw wass bowled by Archer on the very first ball of the game. Shaw departed for a golden duck. It was a 147 kph scorching in-swinger that did him. It was a frightening over from Archer to begin with.

Archer also dismissed Ajinkya Rahane in his second over which rattled the Capitals.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. 

Rajasthan Royals were coming into the game on the back of a thrilling win against SRH in their last outing. They didn't make any changes and went into the game with the same XI. 

In their last game, they had finally put a full stop to their dismal run of four consecutive losses - Perhaps boosted by the return of Ben Stokes.

Delhi Capitals made just one change to their playing XI - they brought in Tushar Deshpande to replace seamer Harshal Patel - who had leaked runs in the last game.

Delhi Capitals, after an impressive start to the tournament were given a setback in their last outing - They were comprehensively beaten by Mumbai Indians.
