With most of the entertainment coming from the batters these days, the year 1983 was different. It was the clinical bowling attack of India which got them to the World Cup trophy after putting West Indies 124/8 in the final who were chasing 184. Madan Lal (3/31) and Mohinder Amarnath (3/12) delivered in heaps for India with their medium pace. Sandhu also bowled well, taking 2/32. Kapil Dev and Roger Binny also took a wicket each. Chasing 184, WI lost their opener Greenidge early. However, Sir Vivian Richards and Desmond Haynes revived WI's momentum in the final with 45-run stand for the second wicket. Richards, who was the key to WI's batting lineup continued to look good smashing seven boundaries in the final. However, Lal gave Team India the wicket of Richards for 33 off 28 with Kapil Dev taking a tremendous running catch.

India were the underdogs, but there were reasons to justify that as the Indian cricket team failed to cross their group stages in both the previous world cup in 1975 and 1979. India moving all the way to the final shocked the cricketing world. (Image Source: Twitter)

Cricket is a team game and India's revolutionary world cup made Kapil Dev a legend of the game. However, the man who was the stand-out performer in the finals was Mohinder Amarnath. He scored a crucial 26 with his bat and finished his bowling with 3/12, delivering an inspiring all-round effort for team and country. (Image Source: Twitter)

Put to bat first by WI, India were all out for a mere total of 183 runs. Sunil Gavaskar was the star batter of the lineup and he was dismissed for just 2 early resulting in tremendous pressure on the team. However, even after a low total, a spirited bowling effort led by Kapil Dev clinced victory for India by 43 runs against a mighty West Indies squad. (Image source: Twitter)
