Say Good Bye To Train Accidents; Travel Faster Soon: Indian Railways Rs 180 Cr Project Set To Transform Travel Experience
To improve track maintenance and safety for commuters, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently took a significant step in modernising India’s railway network by inspecting the Integrated Track Monitoring System (ITMS) at New Delhi Railway Station. This advanced technology is set to transform track maintenance and safety by leveraging cutting-edge solutions.
What Is ITMS?
The ITMS is an advanced system designed to monitor critical track conditions at speeds ranging from 20 to 200 km/h. It is equipped with laser sensors, high-speed cameras, accelerometers, and GPS, enabling real-time, contactless data collection.
Seamlessly integrated with the Railways’ Track Management System (TMS), ITMS sends immediate alerts via SMS and email to ensure quick responses to track defects.
Cost
According to Financial Express, Indian Railways is all set to invest approximately Rs 180 crore on ITMS vehicles across all 17 railway zones. Currently, seven ITMS vehicles are operational, with plans to introduce 10 more. Each vehicle costs approx Rs 18 crore.
Key Features
It uses advanced sensors and cameras for precise data collection and sends instant updates on defects via SMS and email. Its edge servers assist onboard systems in processing data in real time.
ADJ Engineering
In collaboration with ADJ Engineering and under the leadership of Manish Pandey, the company has developed several advanced systems, such as the Rail Inspection System and the Ultrasonic Rail Testing System. (Images: Freepik)
