Good News For General Class Train Passengers: 50 New Amrit Bharat Express Coming Soon
The Indian Railways caters to millions of passengers daily with over 12,000 trains in service. The Railways is gradually not only improving its stations but also introducing new trains with better amenities. In the last 10 years, several trains like Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar and Amrit Bharat have made their way to tracks. Now, the Indian Railways is planning to ease the life of general class passengers who are mostly poor and travel long distances by sitting.
Similar To Vande Bharat
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has told Parliament that after successfully testing the Amrit Bharat trains for 10 months in passenger operations, the public transporter has decided to get 50 more such trains. "A new train has been developed named Amrit Bharat Train. Amrit Bharat train is completely non-AC. Of the 22 coaches, 20 are for passengers and two are for parcels. Of these 20, 10 are sleeper coaches and 10 are general coaches. It has the same technology that is there in the Vande Bharat including automatic couplers, better quality trains, seats, charging points, new toilet designs and noise-free," he said.
Jerk Free Journey
Amrit Bharat services, which have modern State-of the Art technology are equipped with advanced features like Semi-Permanent couplers for jerk free travel, horizontal sliding windows, foldable snack table and bottle holders, mobile holders etc, were introduced by Indian Railways (IR) earlier this year.
Non-AC But High In Demand
The Amrit Bharat train is an LHB push-pull train with non-air-conditioned coaches. This train has locos at both ends for better acceleration. It's running mechanism is similar to that of Vande Bharat Express.
World-Class Amenities
The Amrit Bharat Express provides improved facilities for rail passengers like beautiful and attractive seats, better luggage racks, mobile charging points with suitable mobile holders, LED lights, CCTV, public information system, among others.
Four Trains In Service
There are four Amrit Bharat trains in service at present. These are 15557/58 Darbhanga–Anand Vihar (T) Express and 13433/13434 Malda Town - Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Express.
Relief For Poor People
General class passengers get two to three coaches per express train that has been running on long-distance routes like Delhi To Darbhanga. However, with the Amrit Bharat trains, there are 10 general class coaches and 10 sleeper coaches per train.
