India has always been known for its rich heritage and tradition. The country was and always has been so prosperous that the British made it their colony only for looting.
The Britishers ruled India for 200 years, as a result of which the influence of their culture is deeply rooted in Indian states. However, there was a state that the British could never enslave.
Everyone is well aware of how the British subjugated the entire India and ruled it for hundreds of years. During their rule, the Britishers exploited the people of India a lot, but there was also a state in this country where their dream to rule never turned into reality.
Yes, there is one state that the British were never able to conquer. How was it possible that this state was saved from the oppression of the British?
The reason is not that this state did not have wealth or is less beautiful. This state is still the number one choice of tourists, given its serene beaches and surreal beauty. The state is Goa, an extremely beautiful state surrounded by the sea. The Portuguese saved this state and kept it out of the clutches of the British.
According to media reports, the Portuguese entered India in the year 1498 before the British. Vasco da Gama discovered the sea route to India, and only after that, the Portuguese began trading here. During this time there were many wars between the British and the Portuguese, but Goa never came under the British.
As far as the British are concerned, they arrived in Surat, India, in 1608, as per media reports. They entered the country with the purpose of trade but ended up taking the country’s resources and wealth back home.
Following their arrival, they gradually began occupying India. They left India in 1947, after which India was declared independent.
The state of Goa in India was not under their rule, and even when the whole country became independent, Goa remained under Portuguese rule. The Portuguese stayed in India for about 400 years. Goa remained under Portuguese rule until they left in 1961.
