Four soldiers have been martyred while foiling an infiltration attempt on Tuesday morning, in which four terrorists have been killed at the Line of Control in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district.
Four soldiers including one Army Major were martyred
While foiling an infiltration attempt on Tuesday morning, four soldiers including one Army Major were martyred and four terrorists were killed at the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Bandipora district in of Jammu and Kashmir. The officer martyred has been identified as Major Kaustubh Prakash Kumar Rane while the jawans are Rifleman Mandeep Singh Rawat, Rifleman Hameer Singh and Gunner Vikram Jeet Singh from 36 Rashtriya Rifles (Garhwal Rifles). The terrorists fired at the soldiers after they were challenged which led to a fierce encounter. All the Army posts in the area were on high alert after Pakistani soldiers started to fire without any provocation to help the group of eight heavily armed terrorists.
Major Kaustubh Prakash Kumar Rane
Four soldiers were martyred on Tuesday morning while foiling an infiltration attempt at the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. An Indian Army Major was martyred who has been identified as Major Kaustubh Prakash Kumar Rane. The Army unit challenged the infiltrating terrorists who fired at the soldiers near the post of 36 Rashtriya Rifles at Govind Nallah on the LoC. At least four militants were gunned down in the operation. The bodies of the two terrorists killed have been recovered while the search for the other two is going on. Further reinforcements were rushed to the encounter site.
Rifleman Mandeep Singh Rawat
Three jawans have also been martyred. Rifleman Mandeep Singh Rawat from 36 Rashtriya Rifles (Garhwal Rifles) has been martyred. Initial reports said a group of eight was trying to infiltrate into the country. Of them, four ran back to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, officials said. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate under the cover of heavy firing by the Pakistani Army. Army officers say the infiltrating terrorists were spotted trying to cross the LoC in Gurez's Baktoor at 1 am under the cover of heavy Pakistani firing. All the Army posts in the area were on high alert after Pakistani soldiers started to fire without any provocation to help the group of eight heavily armed terrorists.
Rifleman Hameer Singh
In the infiltration bid by terrorists, Rifleman Hameer Singh was also martyred.
Gunner Vikram Jeet Singh
Gunner Vikram Jeet Singh is one of the soldiers who was martyred on Tuesday morning alongwith three other soldiers of the Indian Army.
