This is noteworthy that the Tamil Nadu government has issued guidelines for Jallikattu events and has allowed only 150 spectators or 50% of seating capacity. Also, carrying either a full vaccination certificate or negative RT-PCR test report not older than 48 hours was made mandatory to attend the event.

Tamil Nadu recorded 23,989 new coronavirus cases

Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 23,989 new coronavirus cases and 11 fatalities. This took the total number of cases reported so far to 29,15,948 and the death toll to 36,967. On Friday, there were 23,459 cases and 26 fatalities.

 

The number of active cases, including isolation, has now increased to 1,31,007.

Andhra Pradesh reported 4,955 fresh COVID-19 infections

In Andhra Pradesh, the cumulative coronavirus cases touched the 21 lakh mark after 4,955 fresh infections were added on Saturday.

 

The number of active cases rose to 22,870. One fresh fatality increased the death toll to 14,509.
