Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who joined Ajit Pawar's faction of NCP, died after being shot at by unidentified persons. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar in the Bandra area of Mumbai. Reportedly, Congress leader Sunil Dutt played a pivotal role in securing Baba Siddique's first electoral ticket. It was at Sunil Dutt's recommendation that Vilasrao Deshmukh awarded Baba the ticket.
