Himalaya Diwas: Protect and promote the youngest mountain range

Experts and environment conservationists have time and again urged the central and state governments to prioritize the conservation of Himalayas.

The youngest mountain range, i.e., the Himalayas are home to a very rich ecosystem complete with diverse flora and fauna.

Experts believe that black carbon deposits at the Himalayas are speeding up the melting of glaciers hence contributing to the worsening effects of climate change.

The CM tweets, “Happy Himalaya Day to all the people of the state. The Himalayas are not only home to snow, but also comprise of a unique civilization and culture in itself. The Himalayan soil, air, water, forest have given birth to civilization.”

CM Dhami adds, “Forests, farms and barns in the country have been flourishing due to abundant reserves of natural resources in the form of Himalayas. Therefore, we need to be aware and responsible for the protection and promotion of the Himalayas”.
