Heatwave onslaught: India's hottest and coolest places last week- In Pics

Temperatures in Uttar Pradesh's Banda rose above 47°C on Friday making it the hottest place in the country in the past 7 days. The temperature in the state is expected to rise to 46°C towards the end of the week once again. 

Ahmedabad in Gujarat was one the hottest places in India this week at 44°C - 45°C in the afternoons. Temperatures in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Vidarbha may jump to 46-47 degrees Celsius due to the dry and hot westerly winds, IMD said.

 In Jaipur, the highs range from 42°C to 45°C, whereas in Udaipur, it’s 41°C to 42°C. Temperatures in parts of Rajasthan may jump to 46-47 degrees Celsius this week due to the dry and hot westerly winds, IMD said.

The temperature in Jodhpur is 44°C during the day and 28°C to 31°C at night. Temperatures in parts of Rajasthan may jump to 46-47 degrees Celsius this week due to the dry and hot westerly winds, IMD said.

Maharashtra was one of the hottest states in India last week amid intense heatwaves, with Nagpur recording 41 degrees Celsius.

Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar was slightly warmer at 27°C during the day, but the nights are a crisp 11°C.

Himachal Pradesh witnessed pleasant weather with light showers. The mercury settled in Manali at 21°C.

Further north, Gulmarg in Kashmir recorded a pleasant temperature of 18°C. In the last 24 hours, the weather remained mainly dry in Jammu and Kashmir.  

The Union Territory of Ladakh recorded a pleasant temperature of 7 degrees Celsius and the lowest can go below zero. Jammu recorded 26.5 degrees, Katra 23.6, Batote 16.5, Banihal 13.2 and Bhaderwah 13.3 as the minimum temperature.
