Purvanchal Expressway is 341-kilometre long
The Purvanchal Expressway is 341-kilometre long and will connect Lucknow with Ghazipur. It is now the longest operational expressway of India, overtaking Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which is 302-km long.
'Dream project' of Yogi Adityanath
The Expressway is said to be the 'dream project' of the state government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It is also considered a big "gift" of the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2022 UP Assembly elections.
Purvanchal Expressway passes through nine districts
Starting from village Chand Sarai on Lucknow-Sultanpur Road (NH-731) in Lucknow, the Purvanchal Expressway passes through nine districts namely Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur - before ending at village Haidariya on National Highway No 19 in Ghazipur, just 18 kilometres from the UP-Bihar border.
