COVID concerns: Is Omicron less deadly than Delta?
Amid the cloud of concerns regarding the Omicron coronavirus variant, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr Anthony Fauci has said emerging evidence suggests that Omicron has increased infectivity and not a "severe profile". Dr Fauci said that the have "molecular evidence to suggest that the mutations that are seen in Omicron and in other variants would suggest that they are associated with increased infectivity.
Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal to take '7 pheras' in a glass 'mandap'
While the couple have neither confirmed thier wedding or ecen their relationships, details continue to trickle in about their grand Rajasthan shaadi. Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif will reportedly take 'saat pheras' (rounds around the fire) as per Hindu rituals. A glass ‘mandap’ has been prepared and decorated in Rajwada style for the ceremony.
Farmers' protest: No decision yet on calling off stir
No decision has been taken yet on calling off the farmers' ongoing protest. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which is spearheading the stir, will meet today (December 8) to decide the future course of action. Kulwant Singh Sandhu, a prominent farmer leader, has claimed that a consensus has been arrived at and "nearly all demands" have been met. However, the SKM said there was no consensus yet on ending the protest, which was triggered last year after the government enacted three farm laws.
NCR pollution: CAQM orders immediate closure of NCR industries not running on clean fuels
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas (CAQM) ordered the immediate closure of industries not running on PNG or cleaner fuels in industrial areas despite the availability of gas infrastructure and supply. The order came in view of the deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR. As per the directions of the Commission, these violating industries or industrial units will not be permitted to schedule their operations till December 12, 2021, and the position will be reviewed for further decisions. Opposition members to join sit-in protest against suspension of Rajya Sabha MPs
Opposition MPs gear up for a sit-in protest in front of the Gandhi statue in Parliament premises today (December 8). Apart from this, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will address a meeting of Congress parliamentary party in the Central Hall of the Parliament today.
