Yearender 2018: Bollywood films that failed to impress

Zero

1/6
Zero

One of the most-anticipated films of 2018, Zero remained true to its "name". A vertically challenged Shah Rukh Khan, a wheelchair-bound Anushka Sharma and a jilted Katrina Kaif couldn't support a crippled script. The journey from Meerut to Mars can jostle anyone's sanity and the ill-planned humour is reason enough for people to walk of out the theatre.

Thugs of Hindostan

2/6

It is heartbreaking when a perfectionist like Aamir Khan delivers absolute hogwash like Thugs of Hindostan. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan and this was the first time he and Aamir collaborated for a film but it worked against them. Obnoxious characters, lack of story and the desperate attempt to match up to the Hollywood flick The Pirates of The Carribean hampered the success of the film.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu

3/6

Bollywood's chocolate boy turned hunk Shahid Kapoor has not delivered a memorable performance since time immemorial. Although his magnum-opus Padmaavat earned over Rs 300 crores at the box office, his character in the film was overshadowed by the villain we all loved to hate, Ranveer Singh. All eyes were on Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which claimed to address a social concern, but the old wine served in a new bottle couldn't impress the audience.

Fanney Khan

4/6

Based on the Hollywood film Everybody's famous, Fanney Khan starring Aishwarya Rai, Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao is a musical drama that tries hard to hit the right chord but goes completely out of tune. Aishwarya and Anil were given a just treatment in the film while an actor of Rajkummar Rao's calibre was completely under-utilised.

Race 3

5/6

Race 3 was one of the most-anticipated films of the year. The viewers thronged the theatres around them to catch the first day first show of a film starring 'Bhai' Salman Khan in the lead but were welcomed with a truckload of disappointments. The Race franchise was helmed by Abbas-Mustan and Saif Ali Khan was the main lead. However, the director was replaced by Remo D'Souza and Saif was replaced by Salman. The film, even before its release, became a butt of jokes because of its over-the-top trailer and cringeworthy dialogues.

Aiyaary

6/6

Looks can be deceiving and that is exactly what happened with Aiyaary. The trailer of the film looked promising and the set of actors playing the lead roles created a buzz amongst the audience but minutes into the film and it turned out to be a complete snoozefest. Coming from a director of Neeraj Pandey's Calibre, Aiyaary was disappointing in many ways.
