Women's Day 2021: Top Bollywood actresses who turned producers and how!
Leadership positions in the workforce all across the globe are mostly dominated by men. Film-making is no different. While there is already a huge pay disparity between the male and the female actors, it doesn't help the female actors that most of the big male stars are also producers who end up walking away with most of the money made by a film. As women's day is around the corner, we bring to you inspirational female actors who turned producers in a male-dominated space.

Priyanka Chopra
Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has now become an international star is not new to breaking glass ceilings. The 'Quantico' star launched Purple Pebble Pictures in 2015 and has produced National Film Awards winning Marathi movie Ventilator. "aims to bridge the gap between emerging talent and the myriad opportunities that the world of entertainment has to offer. From ad films to digital media to backing regional cinema, and venturing into films for children, Purple Pebble Pictures has made some rather brave, unconventional choices," reads the official about section of the Purple Pebble Pictures website.
Neetu Chandra
Actress Neetu Chandra turned producer in December 2018. The 'Garam Masala' actress production house has already produced a National Award award-winning film Mithila Makhaan.
Deepika Padukone
Actress Deepika Padukone turned producer in 2018 and launched her production house called Ka Productions. The actress's first production under the banner was Meghna Gulzar directorial Chhapaak, which is a biopic on acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. The unglamorous movie which addresses a sensitive and pressing issue could be made because the women involved in it (Director Meghna Gulzar and producer and actress Deepika Padukone) were courageous enough to backup the project despite high chances of a tanked box office.
Anushka Sharma
Actress Anushka Sharma turned producer at the young age of 25 and opened her production house called Clean Slate Filmz, along with her brother Karnesh Sharma in October 2013. Sharma was very clear while opening her production house that she will promote young and fresh talents, give platforms to strong scripts and new ideas. Her production house has already produced path-breaking movies like NH10, Phillauri, and Bulbbul. Anushka also produced the critically acclaimed web series Paatal Lok for Amazon Prime.
Alia Bhatt
Actress Alia Bhatt recently turned producer with the launch of her production house Eternal Sunshine Production. The 'Highway'actress took to Instagram to make the announcement. "And I am so happy to announce....PRODUCTION!! Eternal Sunshine Productions. Let us tell you tales. Happy tales. Warm and fuzzy tales. Real tales.Timeless tales," wrote Alia. The first film to be co-produced with Red Chillies under her banner is Darlingshich will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen.
