These top fads of 2020 ruled internet amid lockdown - Did you try Dalgona yet?

The internet became most populated since the lockdown presenting a whole new world of ideas and challenges, bringing out the creativity in everyone. 2020 may have had it’s dark times due to the deadly novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic but it definitely also gave us an opportunity to explore new hobbies and also watch others do what they love. Here are some of the social media fads that went viral:

While initially, most people cringed at the idea of TikTok, soon we saw everyone making accounts and taking part in the creativity contest and enjoying it as well. From miming scenes to now being banned in the country - TikTok surely made it to headlines.

This coffee-lovers trend was not only delicious but also gorgeous with its photogenic properties. Those who were quick to jump on to this trend soon found out that it took quite the effort without an electric whisk, but considered it worth the labour. Did you try it once?

Accompanied by a few friends or even a filter that multiplies you, this dance trend took the internet by storm with almost anybody and everybody trying to master the easy steps to the catchy lyrics of the song.

This trend may be the best ever for all sorts of people that are either scared of cooking or consider it a Herculean task. No more scared of the many spices in the kitchen, these quick recipes helped keep us full and happy effortlessly. From baking cakes to cooking desi gol-gappas - netizens tried it all!

The Black Lives Matter trend started after an incident of police brutality in America after  George Floyd was killed. It saw people outraged and protesting against the racially motivated violence against black people and later became a beacon for all the different races that suffer from discrimination. Seen on countless accounts, this challenge was an initiative to raise awareness and support women no matter who they are or where they are from. The trend started in Turkey during a protest against Femicide which is the abuse and murder of masses of women. It left us with a sense of responsibility towards protecting and supporting the women in our lives and around us. Women posted black and white pictures of them tagging other females for support and chain movement.

Memes took on a brand new avatar, some being absolutely hilarious, true and relatable and others that didn’t make any sense but were somehow still funny. Everyone got a chance to express their deepest thoughts, fears and anxiety through the humour of mems. This trend really gave us an insight on what people were really feeling, with a dash of humour.

Celebrities, Musicians, Make-up artists and others utilized this time under lockdown with live streaming sessions and discussions. Celebs held live streams where they would invite their fans for casual discussion and musicians reached out to other musicians to have live jam sessions.

From rags to riches, this shoe flip transition was one of the most fun fashion trends everyone aced and it was amazing to watch. With the flip of a shoe, we saw some amazing talent as not only models but everyone flaunted their unique sense of fashion.   With a few more days left for 2020 to bid us goodbye, we are keeping our eyes open for the next fad to rule the internet anytime!
