Osama to Restrepo: Movies to watch to get a closer look at Afghanistan's conflict

This Hollywood war feature film takes viewers on the chase for the world’s most wanted, Osama Bin Laden and in the process also shows the excesses committed by the US military.

The Tillman Story tries to unravel the death of a football player-turned-US Army Ranger Pat Tillman, who was killed in Afghanistan. The circumstance of his death is the main climax of the story.

The Road to Guantanamo is a 2006 British docudrama that chronicles the horrible fate of three British Pakistani men who go to Pakistan to attend a wedding and later visit Afghanistan as well - where whether it be the Taliban or the US military - everything seems to be against them.

Taxi to the dark side is a documentary that sheds light on excessive force and torture used by the American military on Afghans. It is directed by Alex Gibney and has also won the prestigious Oscar award. 

Restrepo is a 2010 war documentary made by American journalist Sebastian Junger and British photojournalist Tim Hetherington. The movie documents the time two spent in the war-ravaged country.

Osama is a heart-wrenching film directed by Siddiq Barmak. The movie is set in a time when the Taliban gained control in  Afghanistan and placed restrictions on women. The film shows the story of a young pre-teen girl who masquerades as a boy to be able to earn money to support her mother and grandmother.
