On Dilip Kumar's birth anniversary, wife Saira Banu, Dharmendra, Subhash Ghai pay tribute: In Pics

Saira Banu paid tribute to her husband and veteran late actor Dilip Kumar on his 99th birth anniversary on Saturday, December 11, 2021. She had made a special appearance at Whistling Woods institute where students had created a beautiful mural of the late actor. Megastar Dharmendra and filmmaker Subhash Ghai were also present at the memorial, showering support on Saira.

She had also opened up on how she wanted to spend the day. "I will do the prayers, remember him and I want the day to be very quiet. I want to visit the Juhu garden (Juhu Qabrastan) where he is (buried)," Banu told PTI.

Dilip Kumar's contemporary Dharmendra was also present at the event.

The legendary Bollywood icon and Kohinoor of Indian cinema, Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021, at PD Hinduja hospital in Mumbai. 

In a career spanning almost 5 decades, Dilip Kumar worked in 65 movies, reportedly. 

In an earlier interview, Saira Banu had revealed that she was 12 years old when she fell in love at first sight with 34 years old Dilip Kumar. The actor’s ‘lovely free-flowing hair’, ‘polished and sophisticated’ look made young Saira instantly blow away.

Saira tied the knot with 44-year-old Dilip Kumar when she was 22 years old. 

In 1991, Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema.
