Ranbir lit the internet on fire after he confessed in a recent interview that he and Alia would have married in 2020, if it was not for the COVID-19 pandemic. He also called Alia, his “girlfriend,” somewhat of an “overachiever”. Since Ranbir’s interview, the internet was abuzz, with Alia and Ranbir becoming the trending topic on Twitter. Alia has been the strength of pillar after Ranbir lost his father, actor Rishi Kapoor in April, 2020. She often accompanies her boyfriend in his family’s festive celebrations. On the work front, Alia and Ranbir will feature in Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra', along with Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy.

Brahmāstra has come with a lot of travel, to find creative collaborations everywhere in the world... something I hope will add greatly to the film eventually."
