Ahead of Amitabh Bachchan's birthday, here are 5 iconic films every fan needs to re-watch!

The iconic film 'Deewar' is one of Amitabh Bachchan's finest and will always remain a favourite among fans. The 1975 film revolves around the story of two brothers who grew up as opposing individuals, one as a law-abider and the other as a criminal. The only aspect common between them is their unconditioned love for their mother.

Sholay is a cult classic that holds its relevance even now. Another hit from the 70s, it stars Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri, Amjad Khan, Sanjeev Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. The plot revolves around two criminals Jai and Veeru who are called upon by a retired police officer to nab the notorious dacoit Gabbar Singh.

The 1973 film Zanjeer along with entertaining the masses also started a movement in Hindi cinema. Directed by Prakash Mehra, it resonated with citizens who wanted a break from corruption in the government, institutions with Big B fighting for justice as the hero for the common man. It also starred Big B's wife Jaya Bachchan, Pran, Ajit Khan and Bindu.

The crime drama features Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, who loses his father after the latter is murdered by a gangster Kancha Cheena. It also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Neelam Kothari, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa. The dark storyline follows Vijay as he tries to exact revenge for his father's death.

Coolie features Amitabh Bachchan as a railway coolie. While it was a great film for Big B's career, it was a dark time for his health as he had a near-fatal injury while shooting for a fight scene for the film. It shows Amitabh fighting for the rights of Coolies and coming face-to-face with a businessman to do so.
