In addition to being a capable off-roader, the Mahindra Thar is also a safe vehicle scoring 4 stars in the crash test conducted by Global NCAP. In terms of adult and child protection, the second-generation off-roader has four stars. The safety score also brought a change to Mahindra Thar lineup, which was reduced to only the models with forward-facing rear seats and the side facing rear seats were removed.  

Volkswagen Polo has scored 4 stars in the crash test despite being the oldest in this list. Polo has previously scored 4 star rating without the airbags and now with the standard safety equipments like air bags and ABS, the car is now safer than ever. The car is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine mated to a manual or automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the safest car on the Maruti Suzuki lineup in India. Vitara Brezza has scored 4 stars rating in the crash test with the help of the safety equipments like dual airbags, ABS, EBD and front seat belts with pretensioners which are standard across all variants.

Tata Tiago and Tigor have scored 4 stars each in the crash test conducted by the Global NCAP and now Tigor's EV variant has also joined the 4 star club. Tata Tigor EV is the first made-in-India electric vehicle tested by the Global NCAP. Tata Tiago, Tigor and Tigor EV are equipped with 2 airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensor across all variants.

Mahindra Marazzo is the safest made-in-India MPV in the market scoring 4 stars in the crash test thanks to safety kit such as dual front airbags, ABS, a driver’s side seat-belt reminder, front seat-belt pretensioners and ISOFIX anchorages for the rear seats – standard across all variants. Mahindra Marazzo is priced between Rs 12.42 lakh- Rs 14.49 lakh.

Tata Nexon has the record for being the first made-in-India car to receive 5 stars rating in the crash test back in 2017. In 2021, all Tata Nexon variants come standard with two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Priced between Rs 7.30 lakh and Rs 13.35 lakh for the top model, the diesel-automatic model has two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard.

Mahindra XUV300 is a sub-4 metre SUV competing against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. XUV300 has scored 5 star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Mahindra XUV300 is equipped with two airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors across all variants. Higher Variants is also equipped with 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors and ESP.

Tata Altroz is the safest made in India hatchback available in Indian market. Altroz is equipped with airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminders for the front seats standard across all variants. Higher Variants also gets rear parking camera. Tata Altroz is priced between Rs 5.90 lakhs to Rs 9.65 lakhs.

Despite XUV700's impressive list of features catching a lot of people's attention, Mahindra's hasn't compromised on safety. The SUV has scored 5 star rating in the crash test. The top variants gets lot of safety equipments like seven airbags and advanced driver aids like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and more, base variants on the other hand gets dual airbags with ABS. Mahindra XUV 700 is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 22.99 lakh.

Tata Punch micro-SUV is based on the same platform used by the Altroz, So Tata Punch scoring 5 stars rating like Altroz was not at all surprising. Standard safety equipment on the Punch includes dual airbags, ABS, front seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors. Tata Punch is priced between Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh.
