Some really cool smartphones were launched in 2017. From Apple's most expensive iPhone –the iPhone X to Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 to a host of Xiaomi smartphones that catapulted the Chinese handset maker to world's numero uno position – the year was a smartphone fest for consumers.

Let's take a look at some of the major smartphone launches of 2017.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8, 8 Plus

After the battery fiasco, Samsung launched Galaxy Note8 featuring `Bixby` digital assistant and enhanced `S Pen`. The phone, priced Rs 67,900, hit Indian stores in September.. The 6.3-inch smartphone comes with 6GB RAM, 64GB internal memory which is expandable up to 256GB and sports a 12MP dual rear camera.

Apple unveiled two new iPhone 8 models – iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, with a new glass-body design and other improvements on the iconic smartphone in September. Apple iPhone 8 models are available for Rs 64,000 onwards.

Apple's iPhone X is the most expensive iphone ever. The phone launched in September was made available in India in November. The phone comes in silver and space grey in 64GB and 256GB models starting at Rs 89,000 in India. The iPhone X features a new design with an all-screen display, wireless charging and rear camera with dual optical image stabilization.

Google's much-awaited 5-inch Pixel, 5.5-inch Pixel XL smartphones – hit Indian stores in October. The Google Pixel 32GB has been priced at Rs 57,000, and Rs 66,000 for the 128GB variant. Similarly, Google Pixel XL is priced at Rs 67,000 for the 32GB version, and Rs 76,000 for the 128GB variant.

OnePlus 5, 5T

OnePlus 5 came to India in June this year. OnePlus 5 comes in two variants – 6GB  RAM/64GB memory and 8GB RAM/128GB memory – at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively.

The Chinese smartphone maker launched OnePlus 5T in India in November. The 8GB device with "Face Lock" feature, 18:9 display and an enhanced low-light camera technology is available in 64 GB and 128 GB (midnight black) variants for Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively.

Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi 4A

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has flooded the Indian smartphone market with devices at overlapping prices but compelling features. The smartphone has launched several smartphones this year that includes Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, Xiaomi Redmi Y1,  Redmi Y1 Lite,  Xiaomi Mi A1 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 to name a few.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A was hit the Indian stores in March. Priced at Rs 5,999, Redmi 4A is successor to the Redmi 3 and is the lightest Redmi phone ever weighing just 131.5 grams.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4 in India in May. Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes at a starting price of Rs 6,999 and goes upto Rs 10,999.

Xiaomi's latest offering, the Redmi 5A, has the price tag and specifications of an entry-level Android smartphone.

Marketed as "Desh ka smartphone", Redmi 5A is essentially a successor to the Rs 5,999 Redmi 4A.

The device, available at starting price of Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage was launched in India in November.

HTC launched its water- and dust-proof flagship 4G handset –HTC U11 in India in June. The U11 has been launched in India with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone has been priced at Rs 51,990.

Motorola launched the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones in India in August.

The Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones are priced at Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively.

The Lenovo-owned launched 'bold' smartphone –the Moto Z2 Play in June The Motorola Moto Z2 Play has been priced at Rs 27,999.
