BMW R18 Classic launched in India at Rs. 24 lakh

BMW has launched an all-new R18 Classic in India. The motorcycle will be a completely build-up unit (CBU) in India.

It is based on the BMW R18, which was launched last year. It will be a touring centric cruiser category of bike. The BMW R18 Classic is priced at Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom). 

BMW created a buzz in the auto industry with the launch of its BMW R18 in India. 

There were a lot of rumours from the insiders that the bike could get a complete touring variant. This has taken shape and BMW R18 Classic is based on the R18 Platform. 

The motorcycle will be available at all the BMW showrooms across India. 

BMW R18 Classic gets fat asymmetrical tubeless tyres. The front gets 120/70 R19 tyre whereas the rear gets 180/65 R16 tyre.

The motorcycle gets telescopic forks at the front and a steel swinging fork with a central shock strut at the rear doing the suspension duty. 

The bike is basically an R18 with few upgrades and cosmetic changes here and there.

The R18 Classic gets an additional windscreen, an extra seat for a passenger, saddlebags for storing luggage on tours.

The motorcycle also gets electronic cruise control, additional LED lighting setup.

BMW R18 Classic powered by the 1.8-litre twin cylinder Petrol engine which churns out 89.94 bhp at 4,750 rpm and produces a max torque of 158Nm at 3,000 rpm.

The horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. 

The motorcycle has a top speed of 180 km/hr

BMW R18 Classic gets a double-cradle steel frame with a screwed on under beams chassis. 

The seat height is 690mm and the wheelbase is 1,731mm.

BMW R18 Classic weighs 345 kg.
