7th Pay Commission Update: Gratuity Cap Increased To Rs 25 Lakh For THESE Central Govt Employees- Read

The maximum gratuity limit for BSNL and MTNL central government employees under the combined service framework has been raised from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.  

This change is effective from January 1, 2024, in line with the Dearness Allowance (DA) reaching 50% of the basic pay for central government employees. 

The Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) issued a notification on May 30, 2024, announcing the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations, prompted by the Dearness Allowance (DA) reaching 50 per cent of the basic salary.  

The enhanced Death Cum Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) limit applies to BSNL and MTNL employees governed by Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021.  

Pension and family pension calculations remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for employees and pensioners. 

 

The Department of Telecommunications formalized the implementation of the revised gratuity limit with the Secretary (Telecom)’s approval. 

As per the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC), professors at ICSSR institutes earn Rs 37,400–Rs 67,000 per month, with academic grade pay ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 22,400. (Image Credit: File Photo)
