Should You Buy Skoda Kylaq? Discover The Top 9 Pros And 5 Cons
Skoda Kylaq Pros And Cons - Review: Skoda has introduced its most affordable sub-4 meter SUV, the Kylaq, in India. Bookings for the SUV have already begun. The Kylaq is considered a very crucial product for the company in India. With its launch, Skoda plans to double its overall sales in the country, which highlights the high expectations riding on this SUV. Kylaq's starting price might make some buyers pause for thought as it is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh for the base model, going up to Rs 14.40 lakh for the top variant. These prices are quite competitive. Considering Skoda's brand value and product pricing in the past, it can be said that this is the first rightly priced Skoda model in India. If that holds true, many people might already be considering purchasing it. If you're one of them, it’s essential to know its pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision whether you should buy it or not. I (Lakshya Rana) drove it for around 4-5 hours, and based on my experience, here are 9 pros and 5 cons of the Kylaq:
Skoda Kylaq Pros
Skoda Kylaq Pros
1. Design: The Kylaq is a well-rounded compact SUV with a solid build that gives you mini-Kodiaq vibes. Overall the car looks good with a minimalist design.
2. Cabin: The cabin is stylish and good-looking with sorted ergonomics. The space is also decent. Seats are supportive and well-cautioned.
3. Boot Space: With 446 litres of boot space, it is spacious enough for a family’s weekend trips. It can be extended up to 1,265 litres by folding down the middle row seats.

4. Engine: The 1.0L TSI engine with 114 bhp and 178Nm output, delivers energetic performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds (claimed).
5. Transmission: While a 6-speed torque converter is smooth, the 6-speed MT offers more fun to drive and better control over the vehicle. Both get the job done with ease.

Skoda Kylaq Cons
1. Engine Options: There is only one engine option available. It lacks diesel, CNG, electric, or the 1.5L petrol engine like Kushaq.
2. Interior Quality: The interior quality doesn’t meet the high standards expected from Skoda’s earlier models. However, it's livable.
3. Missing Features: Some features are missing, such as a 360-degree camera, driving modes, and ADAS. The 4-speaker + 2-tweeter sound system also feels mediocre.

4. Seating: The narrow cabin width makes it uncomfortable for a fifth adult; it is best suited for four passengers, two at the front and two at the rear.
5. After-Sales Service: Skoda’s after-sales service can be inconsistent, and the brand’s long-term reliability record is not entirely reassuring.
