Taapsee Pannu opens up on nepotism, says not valued as much as star kids

New Delhi: Taapsee Pannu is an established name in the south film industry and the actress has managed to carve a niche for herself in Bollywood with her kitty full of films like 'Dil Juunglee', 'Soorma', 'Mulk' and 'Manmarziyaan'.

The 30-year-old has been hailed for her performance in films like 'Pink', 'Judwaa' and 'Naam Shabana'. During an interview with a leading daily, Taapsee recently spoke about the heated nepotisn topic in Bollywood and how it affects those who work hard to find a name for themselves in the film industry. 

The 'Naam Shabana' actress said that there have been times when she felt that star kids took away all the limelight with their presence and because of this the newcomers often get ignored. According to Taapsee, people like her have worked hard from scratch to find a place in the showbiz industry and it hurt them badly when they are easily taken out of projects. 

The nepotism debate in Bollywood was sparked off when actress Kangana Ranaut called filmmaker Karan Johar a 'flagbearer of nepotism' on his talk show, triggering a row in Bollywood between those with a family background in cinema, and those without.

Kangana's comment snowballed into a huge controversy, with Karan and actors Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan taking potshots at her at this year's IIFA Award function. However, the trio issued a public apology for their act later after they were severely trolled and faced a backlash from their fans.
