Let's take a look at some of the biggest names in Bollywood, who unfortunately went behind the bars at least once.

New Delhi: Superstar Salman Khan has been convicted in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case by a session's court in Jodhpur. The actor has been sentenced to 5  years in jail which means it's going to be a tough time for Bollywood. But other B-Town stars namely Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre have been acquitted in the case. It's not always easy being a celebrity. The glamour industry's some of the biggest names have had to deal with a dark phase in their lives at some point in time, makes us take a look at some of the actors who are in the list.

Let's take a look at some of the biggest names in Bollywood, who unfortunately went behind the bars at least once:

Salman Khan

One of the biggest names, Bollywood can boast of—Salman Khan, has had a tumultuous career and personal life. The superstar, although loved by millions of his fans still had a dark phase in terms of the number of court cases haunting him. The actor was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in 2015 but was later acquitted. The actor had earlier served a prison term in relation to his 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

The latest being a 5-year sentence given to the star in relation to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. 

Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt was convicted in the illegal possession of arms relating to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case and sentenced to five years imprisonment. Dutt was held under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) in April 1993, due to terrorist interactions, and illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and an AK-56 assault rifle. After spending 18 months in jail, he was granted bail in April 1995. In July 2007 he was sent to six years rigorous imprisonment. The Supreme Court on March 21, 2013, had pronounced its judgement on Dutt. Sanjay Dutt served his remaining 42-month prison term in connection with the illegal possession of arms in 1993 Mumbai blasts. He was released February 25, 2016, after serving his sentence.

Monika Bedi

Actress Monica Bedi, who made her debut in the early 1990s, was arrested in September 2002 with gangster Abu Salem by the Lisbon police for entering Portugal on forged documents. On 29 September 2006, Bedi was convicted for passport forgery for procuring a passport under a fictitious name. In November 2010, the Supreme Court of India upheld her conviction but reduced the jail term to the period that she had already served.

Fardeen Khan

On 4 May 2001, Fardeen Khan was remanded to Narcotics Control Bureau custody for being accused of carrying cocaine, but later the actor was found not guilty. Feroze Khan's son even agreed to undergo a detoxification process following which the court agreed to grant him immunity from prosecution.

Shiney Ahuja

The actor found himself in the middle of a controversy which catapulted his professional career. The actor was allegedly accused of raping his maid in June 2009. Shiney stated that he had consensual sex with her through later confessed to the crime. The trial court convicted him based on circumstantial evidence and he was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment. However, the victim was later prosecuted for perjury.
