'Newton' Actor Rajkummar Rao To Be Appointed As Election Commission's National Icon, Deets Inside

New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced that it would appoint Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao as a National Icon. The poll body appoints prominent and well-known figures as 'National Icon' in order to encourage people to take part in the election process. A formal ceremony regarding the same will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023, ie. on Thursday. 

As per reports, over 161 million people are in five different states in India are gearing up to cast their votes in upcoming assembly elections.

It is to be noted that Rajkummar had essayed the role of a poll officer in a Naxal-affected district of Chhattisgarh in his film 'Newton'. The actor received accolades from all over for his work in the film. 

Recently, Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekha made an appearance at the Rasrang Navratri festival, organised by the Shrikant Eknath Shinde Foundation in Dombivli.

On the personal front, Rajkummar tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend and actor Patralekhaa on November 15, 2021.

On the work front, Rajkummar is all set to reunite with Janhvi Kapoor, in 'Mr And Mrs Mahi.' Apart from this, the actor is also slated to play the lead role in the inspirational biopic of industrialist Srikant Bolla, titled 'Sri'. He also has 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video with Tripti Dimri in his pipeline.
