'City of Joy', 'Wolf', 'The Ghost and the Darkness', 'My Son the Fanatic', 'East Is East' and 'The Parole Officer' are some of Puri's most remembered international works. Also, in 2004, he was reportedly made an honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
New Delhi: Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Monday took to Twitter to praise Academy Awards for honouring the late veteran actor Om Puri. The 'Raees' hunk also criticised Hindi film award function for ignoring the legendary star.
"@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2 late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution... SHAME," he tweeted.
Oscars recently remembered Puri in the 'In Memoriam' montage. Grammy and Tony-nominated singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles paid a musical tribute to Puri and other personalities who departed this year, as Jennifer Aniston introduced the memoriam segment.
