Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Rhea Chakraborty booked for drug conspiracy

The case has been registered under Sections 20, 22, 27 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. 

NCB chief Rakesh Asthana told IANS: "We have filed a case on the basis of the letter from the ED."

Taking suo moto cognizance of actress Rhea Chakraborty's 'visit' to the morgue where the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's body was kept, the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has slapped a notice to the Mumbai Police and BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation demanding an explanation. Treating the matter as a priority, the SHRC has ordered the police and civic authorities to submit their detailed explanation in the matter by Monday.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned talent manager Jaya Saha in connection to the money laundering probe into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, reports news agency IANS. A senior ED official said that Saha, who was questioned earlier by the financial probe agency, has been asked to appear again.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) director Rakesh Asthana held a meeting with KPS Malhotra, Deputy Director, Operations Team. It has been learnt that there will be another round of meeting at 6 pm today. The deleted WhatsApp chats were reportedly retrieved and unfold the conversation between Rhea and Gaurav Arya - the man who is allegedly a drug dealer. 

A recommendation letter by an NGO has been written to Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray for awarding the late actor posthumously with the Padma Bhushan honour. The letter by Prithviraj Maske, President Sanghrah NGO seeks Sushant Singh Rajput should be nominated for the Padma Bhushan award posthumously for his exceptional contribution in the field of performing arts and entertainment.

ANI quoted Sushant's lawyer Vikas Singh on the recent drug conspiracy as saying: "When Sushant Singh Rajput's family got FIR registered, there was an impression that Sushant was being over-drugged on prescription drugs, that overdose too can disturb mental balance."

After explosive drug conspiracy revealed in WhatsApp chats, Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Maneshinde, in a statement, said: "Rhea has never consumed drugs in her life time. She's ready for a blood test any time."

The State Human Rights Commission has sent a notice to DCP Abhishek Trimukhe and Cooper Hospital, seeking a reply on why Rhea Chakraborty was allowed to enter the mortuary where Sushant Singh Rajput's body was kept when only blood relations are allowed. 

The notice has sought a reply from Mumbai police and Cooper hospital on why the rules were not followed in this case, reportedly.
