While talking to Pinkvilla, Ananya Panday has now shared her father Chunky Panday’s bond with the late legendary singer.

She went on saying her dad Chunky has credited his filmy career to Bappi Da.

As reported by India Today, Bappi Da spoke last to his daughter Rema Lahiri. The report also claimed that the legendary singer collapsed in his daughter's arms.

Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit Nene remembered Bappi Lahiri, on Wednesday, with a sweet message dedicated to him following his demise. The actor took to her Instagram Story and shared a picture of the late musician.

"To the one who gave us some unforgettable songs and continues to make our disco experience complete with 'I am a disco dancer'... You'll be truly missed Bappi Da..."

Amul India also paid its tribute to the late singer-composer Bappi Lahiri. In their own style, they designed artwork with two versions of Bappi, one singing and the other composing, placed together in the same frame. A few disco balls were also seen in the artwork, giving a nod to his disco-themed songs and captioned it as, “Tribute to ‘disco king’ and legendary Indian singer/composer”.

Late legendary music composer-singer Bappi Lahiri's son-in-law Gobind Bansal shared, “He had been admitted in the hospital for three weeks but was discharged and was back home. He also had his dinner last night at around 8:30-9 pm. But within half an hour of having his dinner, he got a heart attack. His pulse rate had gotten low. He was rushed to the hospital and the doctors declared at 11:44 that he is no more."

Film producer Ramesh Taurani arrived at Bappi Lahiri’s house to pay his last respects. A lot of celebrities have paid their visits since afternoon.

Bappi Lahiri’s mortal remains reached his residence. His funeral will be held at Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, his son-in-law Govind Bansal told news agency PTI.

Music composer-singer Bappi Lahiri died on late night Tuesday (February 15) at the age of 69 due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The musician, popularly known as ‘Disco King’ for popularising the use of synthesised disco music in Indian cinema, enjoyed an illustrious career of more than five decades. Padmini Kolhapuri, singer Shaan and composer Sameer rushed to the late composer's house. His funeral will take place on Thursday.

Singer Bappi Lahiri's cremation will take place on Thursday morning, his family informed.

The singer's death was also mourned by many in the industry, who remembered the artiste for introducing a new style of music in Bollywood and his collaborators. Bollywood star Ajay Devgn wrote: 
"He introduced a more contemporary style to Hindi film music with Chalte Chalte, Suraksha & Disco Dancer. Shanti Dada. You will be missed."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes, saying Lahiri's lively nature will be missed by everyone. "Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji's music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti," the prime minister tweeted with a picture.

The last rites will be held on Thursday as the family is waiting for his musician-son Bappa Lahiri to return from Los Angeles, US. "The last rites will be held at Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu," Lahiri's son-in-law Govind Bansal told PTI.

His last Bollywood song titled 'Bhankas' was for the 2020 film "Baaghi 3".

He also gave music to films in Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Gujarati cinema. Lahiri joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014. He contested from the Lok Sabha seat of Srerampur but lost to Kalyan Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress.

In the 2000s, Lahiri lent his voice to hit songs like "Bambai Nagariya" from "Taxi No 9211" (2006), and "Ooh La La" from "The Dirty Picture" (2011). He also was one of the singers who sang "Tune Maari Entriyaan" from 2014's "Gunday". The lyrics for the Bengali version of the song were penned by Lahiri and Gautam Susmit.

Born Alokesh Lahiri, the music composer is credited as a pioneer of synthesised disco music in Indian cinema during 1970s to 1990s with songs like "I am a disco dancer", "Jimmy Jimmy", "Pag ghunghroo", "Intehan ho gayi", "Tamma Tamma Loge", "Yaar bina chain kahan re", 'aaj rapat jaaye to" and "Chalte Chalte", among others.
