The Farewell Kapil deserved but never got

In the beginning of 2016, Kapil was at the peak of his career with television show 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' topping the charts. Sadly, the things didn’t work out after a successfully run of two and a half years. And, the program was called off-air.

It was being said that the equation between the broadcasting channel and Kapil faded out with time. The show makers reportedly alleged that the channel had started ignoring their show by giving another comedy show more importance.

However, no official statement was issued regarding the same. On the other hand, the channel kept tight-lipped at first. But, later, one of their top players reportedly spoke to a media house and said that Kapil violated their contract by hosting shows on 'competitive' channels. It was also believed that Kapil even started demanding more money.

All this ended the 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' saga.

Beginning of a new era

Once again, Kapil had to start from the scratch. But, as they say 'talent triumphs all'. Yes, you guessed it right. Here, we are talking about his new innings on TV – 'The Kapil Sharma Show'. Kapil moved forward to another channel and gave his everything in building the program of his dreams. By collaborating with the most talented lot of comedians, he again created a show which is now loved by people of all age groups.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this show destroyed all it competition on-air by disseminating quality and clean content. Another thing that must be appreciated about this program is that it never got into any controversy unlike its rivals on other channels.

The brand value of Kapil here also helped the broadcasting channel emerge as an even greater player. 'The Kapil Sharma Show' makes sure that they are ahead in the TRP race by introducing new characters and delivering genuinely hilarious performances.

Twitter trouble

Things turned ugly for Kapil Sharma a few months back when he questioned 'Achhe Din' to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after allegedly being asked for bribe by a BMC office in Mumbai. This backfired as he was then massively slammed by his supporters online. Kapil stated that he has been paying Rs 15 crore as income tax for the last five years but has been asked to pay a bribe o Rs 5 Lakhs by an official in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for approving the construction of his office.

"Yeh hain aapke achhe din? Narendra Modi," read one of his tweets. After his tweet mentioning the PM made headlines, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis intervened to hear Kapil’s complaint.

Later, the BMC revealed it had slapped a notice on July 16 this year, accusing Kapil of usurping 16 feet of government land by indulging in an illegal construction of his office in Andheri West. Some of his neighbours and local activists also joined the chorus alleging that the comedian used his star status to bulldoze opponents and indulging in questionable activities.

Kapil: The Megastar

The year 2016 is apparently ending on the happiest note for Kapil and there are multiple reasons for it. For starters, 'The Kapil Sharma Show' is doing exceptionally well on the Idiot Box. Also, you will be amazed to know that Kapil has left superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan behind to emerge as the most searched Indian male celebrity of 2016 by Yahoo India.

The list of his achievements doesn’t stop here. If the latest buzz is to be believed, he has already started working on his second film. And last but not the least - Kapil has reportedly been offered a whopping Rs 110 crores for renewing a year-long stint with the TV channel that airs ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.
