New Delhi: Superstar Salman Khan was held guilty in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case by a Jodhpur court and sentenced to 5-year jail term with a fine of Rs 10, 000 on April 5, 2018. The actor, who is lodged in Central Jail, Jodhpur will now have to spend another night inside as the Jodhpur Session's Court has reserved bail order till Saturday.

Meanwhile, soon after the verdict was announced, social media was flooded with mixed reactions on Salman getting a 5-year-long jail term. Several celebrities too thronged Twitter and Instagram to extend their support to the film star.

'Bigg Boss 11' finalist Vikas Gupta wrote a heartfelt note on the Salman Khan verdict and posted it on social media. Khan has been successfully hosting the reality show for past 8 years and shares a great camaraderie with the contestants each year.

Vikas highlighted the good deeds of the superstar, calling him a 'real-life Rajinikanth'. Read his full statement here:

Salman's fans have been praying for his release and even gathered outside his residence in Mumbai. His family members including sisters Alvira, Arpita and brother Sohail and Arbaaz are in Jodhpur and will have to wait for another day as his bail order has been reserved for April 7, 2018. Also, filmmaker friend Sajid Nadiadwala cancelled the success bash of his film 'Baaghi 2' after the superstar was sentenced. The director too has rushed to Jodhpur, to be by his friend's side.

The actor was held guilty in the 20-year-old case of killing two blackbucks during the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998. Other actors including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari were acquitted of all charges by the court.
