Gurmehar Kaur row: Mahavir Phogat turns poet for a day, trolls Javed Akhtar in style

New Delhi: For many, he is the father of Phogat sisters who have brought laurels to the country.

But recently, Mahavir became a poet even as the Gurmehar Kaur-row continues to divide India.

Mahavir slammed noted poet-lyricist Akhtar for calling his daughters and wrestlers ‘hardly literate’.

The Dronacharya awardee took to Twitter, and wrote that “Yaha Umr bit gayi desh ko medal dilane mein, aur woh ek pal nahin lagate unpadh batane mein."

He added,"apne aap ko desh ke prati samparn karne wala vyakti se zyada gyani apni matribhume par koi nahi hota."

Akhtar was also slammed by Yogeshwar Dutt for referring to wrestlers as "hardly literate" in one of his tweets.
