New Delhi: Amidst another controversial report that the company has shut down quietly, Ringing Bells clarified it was not and even stated that it has delivered 70,000 units of the Freedom 251 smartphone.
Ringing Bells, refuting the reports of a shut down, even claim that it was in the process of delivering more Freedom 251 smartphones.
A report in TeleAnalysis on Thursday claimed that Ringing Bells owners have shut down the company and opened a new firm named MDM Electronics Private Limited which is registered in Kailash Colony in New Delhi.
In a statement, the company claimed that it has instead delivered 70,000 units of the Freedom 251 smartphone and was ready to deliver more in the coming days.
“Delivery of Freedom 251 will be made by retailers who will get the products in turn from the distributors and they in turn from the company as is the standard practice in trade,” as spokesperson of the company said.
The company claims that it has delivered the smartphone in the states of West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal, Bihar, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Punjab, J&K, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Ringing Bells came into limelight early this year when it launched Freedom 251 smartphone for just Rs 251, making it the cheapest smartphone in the world. But what followed was one controversy after another.
