Mumbai: Actor Kartik Aaryan says his upcoming buddy-comedy "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" does not aim to bring down the fairer sex and is just a funny take on relationships.
A sequel to the 2011 surprise hit "Pyaar Ka Punchnama", which saw Kartik in his Bollywood debut, the movie revolves around three friends, whose lives are turned upside-down after the entry of three girls.
"The movie does not aim to be sexist or chauvinist or anti-women. It is a funny take on relationships. We have just tried to show various things that happen in a relationship... Everything is in a light vein and it should be taken like that," Kartik told PTI.
While the actor played submissive Rajat in the first movie, he will be seen in a more "dominating and opinionated" character, Gogo in the sequel.
"My character in this movie is very different from the first one as this time I am not exactly a submissive guy in the relationship or friendships. Rajat was a guy, who had no say in anything and easily got dominated.
"But Gogo has strong opinions, for him everything is white and black, there is no grey. He has his beliefs but at the same time let it go for the sake of his girlfriend."
"Pyaar Ka Punchnama" is best known for its seven-minute-long hilarious monologue in which Kartik's character vented out the frustration of every guy in a relationship. The young actor said the upcoming movie will also treat fans to a similar and much-longer sequence.
"This monologue will make people laugh like crazy. It is funnier than the previous one. During the first one, I was nervous but this time I felt more prepared. I can't wait for the audience to watch it," Kartik said.
While the movie repeats the three lead actresses from the original-- Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall and Ishita Sharma-- it will see Sunny Singh Nijjar and Omkar Kapoor replace Divyendu Sharma and Raayo S Bakhirta.
"The story is new and so are the characters. I think I was signed for the sequel because the makers felt I look matured now and different from how I looked during the first film. I don't really know what happened with other actors but somehow things did not work out with them."
Kartik is happy to be the face of the franchise. "Nushrat and I bring recall value to the film and it feels great to be the face of a brand like 'Pyar Ka Punchnama'. It is a good responsibility and there is no pressure. I am enjoying it."
The "Akash Vaani" actor is confident people will love the movie as much as they connected with the original.
"I am confident about 'Pyar Ka Punchnama 2'. I am sure how the first connected with the youth, this will also be liked by them for its fresh content and great writing. "The sequel is very funny and will have audience in splits. We took some time after the first film to build strong content otherwise we could have released it the next year."
The film is set to hit theatres on October 16.
