Bratislava: Slovakia`s Prime Minister Robert Fico said his government will oppose EU plans for compulsory migrant quotas at an emergency meeting in Brussels on Monday.
He said Interior Minister Robert Kalinak would aim to block the European Commission`s plan involving a quota system to distribute 160,000 refugees across the 28-member EU.
Fico said that imposing quotas -- a move also opposed by the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland -- "would be a violation of the basic decision-making rules of the European Union".
