Damascus: At least 14 people were killed and 25 others wounded on Sunday by rebel rocket firing against government-controlled districts of Syria's northern city of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported.

The rebels, who were entrenched in Bani Zaid neighbourhood, fired multiple improvised rockets on Midan neighbourhood in the government-controlled part of western Aleppo, said SANA.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said five children were among those killed, adding that the death toll was likely to rise due to the large number of people in critical condition.

The attack was the latest in an endless series of shelling and violence that has engulfed Aleppo.

Aleppo, Syria's second largest city and once an economic hub, has been carved out between Syrian government in the west part and the rebels in the east.
