New Delhi: During a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's best kept secret got unravelled.
None other than Zuckerberg himself revealed that when his company Facebook was going through a ''rough phase'', Apple founder Steve Jobs had advised him to visit an ashram in Uttarakhand to overcome the crisis.
While sharing some candid moments with PM Modi, the Facebook CEO told of finding inspiration to continue with Facebook during a journey to India.
Zuckerberg opened the chat by telling of a time, about a decade ago, when Facebook was going through a "rough patch" and there were thoughts of selling the startup.
He said during those times he visited one of his mentors, late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who told him to travel to a certain temple in India.
"I went, and travelled for almost a month," Zuckerberg recounted. "Seeing the people and how they connected, reinforced what we were doing and is something I've always remembered," he said.
That journey, Zuckerberg said, cleared his head and helped reaffirm Facebook's mission to connect billions of people around the world.
Though, Zuckerberg didn't reveal the name of the ashram, reports said that the Facebook founder might have visited Kanchi Dham Ashram in Uttarakhand.
The Prime Minister spent 50 minutes on stage with Zuckerberg, when he also talked about the importance of social media and his "Digital India" initiative, which aims to connect thousands of Indian villages to the Internet and boost technology investments.
