Malda (WB): A local BJP Yuva Morcha leader was today injured as he was assaulted following an argument over wall writing at Englishbazar town in Malda district.
The BJP blamed a local CPI(M) councillor for the attack while a senior police officer said the leader Ravi Halder, the Yuva Morcha Englishbazar unit Secretary, was assaulted by unidentified people who objected to writing poll graffiti on a wall in Malanchapalli locality.
The CPI(M) councillor Paritosh Chowdhury, who was named by the BJP in the complaint as leading a group of partymen, denied the charge.
Halder was now under treatment at Malda Medical College Hospital.
The BJP said it will not take the incident lying down and follow-up action would be taken.
