PM Modi to hold a rally each month in Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2017 Assembly polls: Report

Lucknow: Ahead of the high voltage 2017 Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, a big decision has been taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday.

Zee Media quoted sources as saying, while banking on the leadership of the prime minister, BJP has decided that Narendra Modi will hold one rally each in the poll bound state.

The saffron party will sound it's poll bugle in UP on June 13, 2016, with a grand rally led-by PM Modi. The rally is scheduled to take place in Allahabad after BJP's national executive meeting in the state.

During the meet, PM's further course of action and details of his various other rallies will also be finalised, as per the report.

Notably, after registering a landslide victory in the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections, BJP's big focus is on Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Following its debacle in Bihar Assembly polls last year, the BJP had projected a chief ministerial candidate in Assam and won the polls along with its allies.

The Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party is certain to go all guns blazing to win the 2017 UP elections, which sends maximum MPs to the Lok Sabha.

Notably, the BJP had won on 71 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in 2014. Congress won two, Samajwadi Party five and Mayawati's Bhaujan Samaj Party wasn't able to open its account.

Key players in the state – Bharatiya Janata Party led by PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Samajwadi Party led by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party led by Mayawati - are personality driven and have their strong vote bases. Meanwhile, Congress, which has been out of power in the state for nearly three decades, suffers from a leadership crisis.
