Dadri lynching incident 'part of pre-meditated strategy of BJP', says Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Amid outcry over lynching of a man in Dadri over rumours of consuming beef, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has put the blame on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking to NDTV, the UP CM and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader said that the attack on Mohammad Iqlakh was not a spontaneous action, but "part of a pre-meditated strategy of the BJP".

While noting findings of police investigation, Akhilesh said that as per facts Dadri was part of a pre-meditated strategy of the saffron party and its affiliates.

While coming down hard on the BJP, the SP leader said when the Dadri lynching case grabbed headlines across the world, is it possible that the ruling party leaders didn't know about the case.

“The BJP leaders know everything what the party is doing in UP,” the CM asserted.

The UP CM accused the BJP of trying to flare communal tensions in UP.

Akhilesh maintained that the BJP has been trying to divide communities by raking up issues like 'love jihad', 'ghar wapsi', conversion.

He also rubbished the accusations that SP has colluded with the BJP to polarise the electorates.

Akhilesh also took the opportunity to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Dadri like incidents would hamper foreign investments.

The SP leader also demanded that BJP should announce, who is the party leader to whom members making inflammatory remarks would listen and stop giving such statements.

“The leader must come forward to stop them,” the Chief Minister quipped.

His remarks come in the backdrop of the Dadri killing a week ago which has sparked outrage in the country. 50-year-old Iqlakh was dragged out of his home by a 200-strong mob and beaten to death after a public announcement from the local temple that the family had slaughtered a calf and eaten its meat in Bishada village.
