New Delhi: c on Saturday expressed grief over the lynching of an Air Force personnel's father in Dadri, saying that it was an 'unfortunate' incident and that he will do everything in his power for the welfare of the victim's family.
"Unfortunate incident that a serving Air Force personnel's family has been adversely affected. Our senior level officers are in touch with the family of this air warrior and whatever protection is required is being provided," Raha said at a press conference here.
He also said that the family of the victim wanted to be moved to an Air Force area to which, they will be relocated soon.
"Writing to the state government or the central government in this matter is superfluous, because everybody has understood that such things cannot be accepted. Adequate actions are being taken by the governments at both the levels," Raha said.
The Air Force Chief added that their defense personnel are disposed at all times to assist the family of the victim and that the welfare of the armed forces staff is of paramount importance.
"We are in touch with the family, so there is no need to write additionally. CA level officers have already gone ahead. I am also planning to meet the Air warrior (victim's son who is in IAF) and extend all support to look after him and his family's welfare.
Mohammad Akhalq's eldest son Sartaj who is an Air Force Personnel, had earlier written to the state government, requesting them to stop the political row over his father's death.
Sartaj also requested the government to stop politicians from visiting their house, as his family did not want any intrusions at this time of grief.
He said that his family was already traumatized by the death of his father, and the visits by politicians were not helping in anyway.
So far, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have met the victim's family.
