TN polls: DMK promises metro rail service for Coimbatore

Coimbatore: DMK Treasurer M K Stalin on Friday slammed the ruling AIADMK for its 'failure' to implement its election promise of bringing mono rail in the city and promised to introduce Metro Rail, if his party was elected to power.

In his poll campaign in support of party and alliance candidates in different constituencies, Stalin alleged that AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa had failed to fulfil her electoral promises given in 2011, including the mono rail for the benefit of the citizens.

Being an industrial belt, the government failed to attract investment in the sector and due to its wrong policies a good number of investments had gone to neighbouring and Northern States, he alleged.neighbouring and Northern States, he alleged.

Stating that along with metro rail service, steps would be taken to set up a high level medical research centre, he said priority would be given to improve infrastructure in and around Coimbatore.

Promising various development works for the local people, including making Pollachi-Palani route into four lane, Stalin said efforts would be taken to set up storm water drain, community halls and developing parks across constituencies.
