Tamil Nadu polls 2016: Left parties to release candidate lists on Monday

Chennai: The Left parties-- CPI-M and CPI, contesting 25 seats each in the May 16 Tamil Nadu Assembly poll, will release lists of candidates on Monday.
The Left parties are contesting as part of the People's Welfare Front-Vijaykant-led DMDK alliance.
The PWF also comprises Vaiko-led MDMK and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi. Tamil Maanila Congress led by GK Vasan is also part of the alliance.
Vijayakant is the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance.
"We will be deciding the candidates contesting for the 25 seats allotted to us in the meeting to be held today. The final list of candidates will be released tomorrow," CPI (M) State Secretary, G Ramakrishnan told reporters.
CPI Tamil Nadu unit Secretary R Mutharasan said after consulting with senior leaders, including Sudhakara Reddy and D Raja, the list will be released here on Monday.
Of the 234 assembly segments, DMDK is contesting in 104, MDMK 29, Tamil Maanila Congress 26. VCK, CPI(M) and CPI are contesting in 25 seats each.
