Election Commission to visit Puducherry, Tamil Nadu to review poll readiness

New Delhi: The Election Commission will be in poll-bound Puducherry and Tamil Nadu for three days from Wednesday to take stock of their preparedness for staging the exercise.
Both states vote for Assembly polls on a single day, May 16.
Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and Election Commissioners Achal Kumar Joti and Om Prakash Rawat will be visiting Puducherry on April 6 and 7 to review the preparations, EC said in a statement here.
Then, on April 8, the trio will reach Chennai to review the preparedness for Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.
During their stay in Puducherry and Chennai, the EC brass will meet the representatives of political parties, district magistrates, SPs, DsGP and Chief Secretaries of the two states along with officials of enforcement agencies.
They will also review expenditure monitoring measures. This is their second visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
