Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will next month undertake election campaign in Tamil Nadu for the May 16 Assembly elections, BJP state unit President Tamilisai Sounderrajan said on Monday.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be coming to Tamil Nadu next month to undertake election campaign," she told reporters here without divulging any further detail.
Besides, more than 20 other national leaders of the party would also be visiting the state to address election rallies, she added.
BJP is contesting the elections alone after its allies in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls including DMDK and PMK charting their own course. Leading a rainbow alliance, the BJP then managed to win one Lok Sabha seat while PMK another with AIADMK sweeping the rest.
Modi had addressed a rally in Coimbatore on February 2 last, billed as BJP's pre-poll campaign, but refrained from talking about the state politics and instead highlighted his government's achievements.
