A nursing student allegedly committed suicide here on Monday by hanging herself in her hostel room, police said.

Chennai: A nursing student allegedly committed suicide here on Monday by hanging herself in her hostel room, police said.

The incident comes close on the heels of the alleged suicide of three students in Villupuram district and the death of an Anna University student here.

The body of second year nursing student of Stanley Government medical college here was found hanging from the ceiling in her room on Monday evening.

 

She was taken to hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said.

She was later identified as Amutha (19) hailing from Villupuram district.

She was staying in the hostel and pursuing the nursing course. Meanwhile, police said the 19-year-old girl student of Anna University was found dead after she apparently fell from the terrace of her hostel building yesterday.

 

The girl, identified as Shanmuga Preetha, was a second year B.Tech Ceramic Technology student at the Guindy College of Engineering under the University.
