MIT's RF-Capture helps identify people through walls

The RF-Capture device sends wireless signals and reconstructs the human body by analyzing reflections of those signals.

Washington: Researchers at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab have discovered a way to capture the image of humans through a wall, according to a new study.

The RF-Capture device sends wireless signals and reconstructs the human body by analyzing reflections of those signals. It can be used to recognize a person or determine how a person is moving on the other side of a wall. It can also decipher handwriting in the air from behind a barrier.

The new device comes on the heels of some of MIT's previous technology, according to Gizmodo, in which researchers used radio frequency to detect motion behind a wall.

The RF-Capture doesn't require any additional devices or sensors to function. It is said to have a 90 percent accuracy rate.
