Delhi September weather most comfortable in last five years

The national capital witnessed the most comfortable September weather in the last five years as the month recorded the lowest average rainfall in the last decade, according to weather forecaster Skymet.

New Delhi: The national capital witnessed the most comfortable September weather in the last five years as the month recorded the lowest average rainfall in the last decade, according to weather forecaster Skymet.

"It was the driest September with lowest rainfall in the last decade," Skymet CEO Jatin Singh told IANS.

Even the humidity recorded in September was the lowest in the last five years, Singh said, adding that high humidity leading to discomfort was otherwise quite common during the month in Delhi.

"Usually, hot and humid weather conditions characterise the month of September in Delhi, when humidity goes up to as high as 90 percent.... However, this September was an exception," he said.

Humidity was recorded at 77 percent this September as compared with 84 percent in the corresponding period in the last two years.

Singh attributed the low humidity level in September to the withdrawal of monsoon and change in wind conditions from moist and humid to dry.

He said that October would record pleasant weather during morning, evening and night hours, but "slightly warm" in the afternoons.

"I don't think there would be a change to humid condition now," he said.
