FIR filed against Punjab Gau Raksha Dal chief Satish Kumar over social media video

Satish Kumar had hit out at the PM saying that he doesn't mind if he is called a goon for saving the cow. 

Chandigarh: Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came down hard on cow vigilantes, the Punjab Police, Monday, filed a FIR against Gau Raksha Dal chief Satish Kumar over a video of members of his group thrashing people in the name of cow protection.

Besides Satish Kumar, the Rajpura also booked Annu and Gurpreet alias Happy under Sections 382, 384, 342, 341, 323, 148 and 149. The accused are yet to be arrested.

The Tribune quoted Patiala SSP Gurmeet Chauhan as saying that the police is checking the authenticity of the video footage.

“The video shows Gau Raksha Dal members brutally thrashing people in the name of cow protection, he added.

Earlier, speaking to India Today, Satish Kumar said, “I don't mind if someone calls me a goon for saving the cow. If someone who saves the cow is labelled a goon, I'll be proud to become the country's biggest goon."
